In 2023, Chris Duncan unethically used nearly $5000 of city taxpayer funds for a trip to DC. Duncan didn't use his official city email to communicate with the organization, but rather he used his private email which featured a signature block with a link to his assembly campaign website. Conflict of interest?

On June 21, 2022, during a scheduled council meeting, Chris Duncan was in Sacramento, teleconferencing from the Office of the City of San Clemente’s lobbyist. This is a lobbyist that the City pays a substantial amount to lobby for the City. There was no city business in Sacramento, yet Duncan teleconferenced from the City's lobbyist office.

At a time when families are struggling to put food on the table or gas in their tank, Duncan voted YES to support doubling his salary as council member. Duncan’s opponent, Assemblywoman Laurie Davies, has continued to work across the aisle with her colleagues in Sacramento to make California more affordable for hard working families.

Chris Duncan has been seen kneeling side by side with the Defund the Police Movement. With crime on the rise across California, the last thing we need is to defund the police and put out communities at risk.

In his campaign for Assembly, Chris Duncan doesn’t have a SINGLE endorsement from a law enforcement agency.

Duncan’s opponent, Assemblywoman Laurie Davies, is proudly supported by both local and statewide organizations including: Peace Officer Research Association (PORAC) , California Association of Highway Patrolmen (CAHP), California Correctional Peace Officers Association (CPPOA), Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of San Diego, San Diego Police Officer’s Association, Oceanside Police Officer’s Association, San Diego Deputy District Attorneys Association, the Association of Orange County Deputy District Attorneys and San Diegans Against Crime.

In a recent vote, Chris Duncan voted NO in supporting a resolution against California’s Prop 1.

Under Prop 1. Projects funded by the Behavioral Health Infrastructure Bond will be eligible for local fast-tracked review processes for outpatient facilities, including the streamlining of approval for new Sober Living Homes.

Chris Duncan has continued to use his official “San Clemente City Council” facebook page as a platform for campaigning. He’s often seen at campaign rallies wearing his City of San Clemente councilmember badge.

Chris Duncan loves to label and refer to himself as Mayor… but it isn’t true. Chris Duncan is a council member in a city that rotates the role of Mayor every year.

Chris Duncan is backed by the same politicians and organizations that supported gutting Prop 13 and hiking the Gas Tax.
